Meet Sam

Sam Rima

Operations Manager

Sam graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He started his career off as a Recruiting Associate with YouthWorks, a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, where he worked for about three years. Sam enjoys connecting with candidates to fully understand their employment situation, specific qualifications, and future career goals. This allows him to support our technical clients as they seek to find the most fitting person for their organizations.

In his free time, Sam enjoys spending time cooking and exploring new places with his wife, Sarah and two daughters, Riley and Avery. He likes pretty much every sport there is and also enjoys reading, exercising, and learning new things.

What are your hobbies?
During the Spring/Summer/Fall I love to get out running, and during the winter I normally play in a broomball or basketball rec league with some friends from college. I also enjoy following a number of different sports to varying degrees, so when I have the time I’ll watch games or just keep up with results of various teams I support.

If you could live anywhere for one year, where would it be and why?
Paris. I’ve always enjoyed learning about European history and find it fascinating, so I’d love to live in such a historic city that would be central enough to make it easy to visit the UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and other nearby countries would be amazing!

What is your taste in music?
I’m pretty wide open and go through phases, but some of my favorites over the years are Switchfoot / Jon Foreman, Twenty One Pilots, David Crowder Band, and Nickel Creek.

Who would you cast to play you in a movie about your life?
I really have a hard time answering this question in terms of someone that I think would be the best “fit”. So, I think I’d say Bill Murray, because he seems like he’d be such a fun person to spend time with!

What is one piece of advice you would give to a jobseeker?
Look for the right people and place, not the right dollar amount. I’ve spoken with countless candidates over the years, and I’ve consistently found that those that are most reticent to leave their positions are those that love what they do and the people they do it with, not those who are compensated the best. There is great value in loving what you do every day, and when you love what you do, it tends to lead to better performance, additional compensation, and additional responsibilities if you desire them.

At Konik, we have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on peoples’ lives every day. Getting to hear peoples’ stories, what drives them, and to help to connect them with an employer that needs the specific skills they bring to the table is gratifying – and fun!
